A short video introducing Finland's priorities for its presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers was released today. The Finnish Presidency, which started on January 1st, 2016, will focus on the following themes: water know-how; Nordic nature, sustainable development and international climate commitments; Nordic welfare society; digitalisation; dismantling cross-border barriers between the Nordic countries.

The European Polar Lows Working Group (EPLWG) focuses on polar mesocyclones in both hemispheres, but contributions to other mesoscale weather phenomena such as katabatic winds, tip jets, boundary layer fronts, cold air outbreaks, and weather extremes in polar regions are also welcome. This includes experimental, climatological, theoretical, modelling, and remote sensing studies.

Hilcorp Alaska, LLC has filed a Development and Production Plan with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management for the Liberty Project. Filing of the plan is the first of many steps in the permitting process, which entails multiple approvals at the local, state and federal levels and is expected to take more than two years. A final analysis and decision to proceed with the project will be made after all the necessary permits have been issued.
