Presidents attending the 4th International Arctic Forum

The Presidents of Russia, Finland and Iceland, Vladimir Putin, Sauli Niinisto and Gudni Torlatsius Johannesson met at the 4th International Arctic Forum in Arkhangelsk, and discussed Arctic cooperation and development of the region.

'It is essential for the Arctic to remain a space of constructive dialogue, creation, and equal interaction (...) I stress that Russia is open to constructive cooperation and is creating all the conditions for its effective development', Putin said in his opening speech at the session.

The Presidents discussed economical development of the Arctic region and some possible strategies to minimize the effect of these economical activities on the fragile Arctic environment. They also talked on Arctic cooperation and the role of the new U.S. administration and current geopolitical tensions in it.
