Circum-Arctic Art-Show Reykjavík 2015

Circum-Arctic Gallery, a Canadian-Icelandic based company, is hosting the first International Arctic Art Show in Reykjavik from the 15th to19th of October 2015 and aims to promote the work of indigenous artists from across the Arctic Circle, providing a platform to show case their work and reach a wider audience.

Arctic Herald journal

The latest edition of the "Arctic Herald" journal is now available online. The information and analytical journal, published by the Russian Geographical Society, was first released in 2012 and "conceived as the platform for communication amonf the expert community, as well as all those engaged and interested in the problems of today's Arctic", as stated by Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, for the first number of the journal.

On Tuesday 8th September, the Arctic Economic Council (AEC) Secretariat was officially opened in Tromsø by the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Børge Brende. The news has been released on the social media, both by the Norwegian MFA (via Twitter) and both by the Arctic Council (via Facebook), and by the Barents Observer.

The crew of U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Healy and the Geotraces science team

ARCTIC OCEAN — U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Healy, homeported in Seattle, arrived at the North Pole Sept. 5, 2015, becoming the first U.S. surface ship to do so unaccompanied. This is also only the fourth time a U.S. surface vessel has ever reached the North Pole, and the first since 2005.
