The Year of Polar Prediction (YOPP) Summit, a major event in the further planning of the Year of Polar Prediction, was held from 13–15 July 2015 at WMO headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.

Toronto, Sept. 3, 2015 – The first ever circumpolar action plan to protect polar bears was released yesterday during the Polar Bear Range States meeting in Ilulissat, Greenland.

A new journal is emerging to be published shortly. The Icelandic Arctic Journal is a non-peer reviewed, interdisciplinary, multi-stakeholder and cross-sectoral platform for those interested and involved in the Arctic.
The Arctic Energy Summit 2015 will be held in Fairbanks, Alaska, on September 28-30. Registration is open. The Arctic Energy Summit 2015is hosted by the Institute of the North in cooperation with the University of Alaska Fairbanks and Iceland's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Last Sunday, August 30th, the Icelandic cargo ship Winter Bay (but flying the flag of St. Kitts and Nevis), arrived in Osaka with about 1,800 tons of fin whale meat.

On August 21st, the construction of the Norwegian Polarled gas pipeline, which will bring gas from the Norwegian sea to Europe, crossed the Arctic Circle. As Statoil reports, "the 482-kilometre long and 36-inch (91.4 cm) wide pipeline will run from Nyhamna in western Norway to the Aasta Hansteen field in the Norwegian Sea.

The "Eye on Earth Summit 2015 Informed Decision-Makin for Sustainable Development" will be held in Abu Dhabi next 6-8 October 2015.

Organizers of the Polar Data Forum II: International Collaboration for Advancing Polar Data Access and Preservation announce a call for early bird registration. The forum will convene 27-29 October 2015 in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

The Arctic Research Consortium of the U.S. (ARCUS) seeks applicants for the position of Executive/Program Assistant. This is a full-time, hourly position based in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Yesterday, August 24th,the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague ruled in favor of the 30 Greenpeace activists that in the in the morning of 18 September 2013 used the vessel Arctic Sunrise to stage a protest action at the Russian offshore oil production platform Prirazlomnaya, located in the Barents Sea in Russia's EEZ.

The executive council of the Inuit Circumpolar Council (ICC) held it's Executive Council Meeting in Bethel, Alaska on 18-19 August 2015.
