Today, 15th of January at the University of Akureyri, dr. Natalia Loukacheva gave her last speech as a Nansen professor.
Close to 60 people from University community have attended the lecture, to include University rector and head of the department of law and social science.
During her lecture dr. Loukacheva recalled the great figure of Fridtjof Nansen, his expedition and achievements as an Arctic explorer.
The first Nansen´s scholar highlighted the key necessities of increasing infrastructure and capacity building in the High North.
As one of the greatest indigenous peoples rights specialists, dr. Loukacheva stressed out difficulties and challenges in combining traditional ways of life with rapidly increasing modernization.
