We begin this quarter’s newsletter with another sad loss—that of our dear friend and colleague, Chuck Hart. Chuck served as the program manager for our consortium partner, the Center for Canadian-American Studies at Western Washington University. Chuck was beloved in his more than 40-year career at WWU. You will find a touching tribute to Chuck below.
At the Center our programs are thriving thanks to the virtual residency of UW’s Fulbright Canada Visiting Chair in Arctic Studies, Kevin Turner; the virtual teaching of Inuktitut, the Inuit language, taught from Iqaluit, Nunavut as well as Nuu-chah-nulth, a First Nations language taught from Vancouver Island; and our virtual exchanges to University of Victoria, University of British Columbia and other Canadian institutions via our Corbett and Killam programs. We hope you enjoy the stories of hope and success below.
